Barrington High School and the Barrington Booster Club recently announced that tickets are now on sale for an awards dinner to honor the eighth class of the Barrington High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 9 at 5 p.m. (dinner at 6 p.m.) at the Rhode Island Country Club, 150 Nayatt Road. Tickets to the event are on sale now for $50 and are limited, so those interested are encouraged to order as soon as possible.

The evening promises to be a memorable one as eight athletes, two teams, a coach, an administrator and a contributor will be inducted.

The 13 inductees are: athletes Julie (Ruggieri) Boynton 07’, Joseph Caito 55’, Matthew Coffey 04’; Scott Douglas 86’, Drew Harker 04’, Bradley Holtz 05’, David McAndrew 06’ and Kelly McAndrew 00’; the 2001 Boys Basketball and 1963 Boys Basketball Teams; Coach Sandy Gorham; administrator Joseph Hurley; and contributor, the 1960 Field Hockey Team.

Nominations for the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame were requested from the public this past summer and fall and the Hall of Fame Committee reviewed the completed nomination forms and made its final selections in December.

“Like the first seven BHS Athletic Hall of Fame classes, this is an extremely strong group which spans different generations, sports and roles,” said Kevin Ryan, chairperson of the Hall of Fame Committee. “The Boosters and the community look forward to officially inducting them and sharing the highlights of their specific achievements and dedication at the ceremony.”

Mr. Ryan added that the purpose of the Barrington Booster Club is to encourage, stimulate and support all interscholastic and intramural sports in the Barrington School System.

Checks to the awards dinner can be made out to the "Barrington Booster Club" and sent, with an order form located on the BHS Athletics website (downloadable at www.barringtonhigh.org) to Barrington Booster Club, Attn: Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 232, Barrington, RI 02806. Those interested can also e-mail boosters@barringtonschools.org to request an order form or pick one up at the Barrington High School office.
