The Shadow Box

by Michael Cristofer

Directed by Jeff Sullivan

January 25, 26, 27, February 1, 2 and 3

The Shadow Box takes place over twenty-four hours, in three separate cottages on the grounds of a large hospital in the United States. Within the cabins are three patients: Joe, Brian and Felicity, whose families have joined them as they have reached the end of their treatment. They have agreed to live within the hospital grounds and be interviewed by a psychiatrist. Powerful and moving, The Shadow Box explores themes of family, loyalty, love, life and death with sensitivity, humor and keen intelligence. Join us at The Players for this unforgettable night of theater.

Tickets are $25.00, or $15.00 for students with ID.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
