The Audubon Nature Center and Aquarium in Bristol will be hosting its ever popular Raptor Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Owls, hawks and falcons, formidable and magnificent predators of the sky, are descending on Bristol with their razor-sharp talons, extraordinary strength, hooked beaks and highly developed eyesight.

Wildlife rehabilitators and experts from across the Northeast will bring a wide variety of these extraordinary birds to the largest raptor celebration in New England. Enjoy live raptor presentations, educational programs, games, and activities for bird enthusiasts of all ages.

General admission tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for children ages 4 - 12. A Family Four-pack is $55. For details and to purchase tickets online, visit www.asri.org

Raptor Weekend is sponsored by RI PBS.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
