A 16-year-old student at the East Bay Career Academy in Warren was injured when the school bus in which he was a passenger was struck by a Ford Mustang on Market Street shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

Warren Police Chief Peter Achilli said the student was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital with a knee injury; he was one of five passengers on the bus and the only one injured. The accident occurred when the Mustang's driver lost control of his car while turning left at the Malik's Liquors intersection. Chief Achilli said it appears that the Mustang's driver lost control of the car, struck a guardrail on the right side of the road and crossed into the southbound lane, hitting the bus at the driver's side rear tire. The force of the collision broke the bus's axle and totaled the Mustang.

The uninjured students were brought back to the Career Academy.
