St. Luke’s School students experienced great success at the recently completed state-wide Science and History Fairs.
Seventh-grader Angelina Deschenes won Best of Show in the Middle School Division at the RI State Science and Engineering Fair. In addition to being named a top entrant for her age group, Angelina was recognized with special awards from the Bristol County Water Authority (BCWA) and Coastal Resources Management Corporation (CRMC).
Angelina’s project was The Effects of Fertilizer on Water Quality in the Kickemuit River.
Eight members of the eighth grade class represented St. Luke’s School at the Rhode Island State History Fair. Ava DelMonico finished in the top 4 in her division with her project on the impact of the Salem Witch Trials on judicial practices.
Also, Barrington resident Meagan Mungovan celebrated a second place finish overall which qualifies her to compete in the National History Day competition held in Washington, DC in June. Meagan’s winning entry was a documentary which traced the hunt for Osama Bin Laden from the day the Twin Towers were hit in 2001 until the moment he was killed by the Navy Seals almost 10 years later. An impressive amount of research went into the preparation of the documentary and the script which Meagan wrote and taped as a voice-over to the film.
