Printmaking Without a Press with Suzanne Lewis

Learn three printmaking techniques that you can do at home without a press and with minimum equipment. we will be learning techniques for creating monoprints which involves painting or inking a plexiglass plate, linoleum cut and pochoir, which is a French stenciling technique. These techniques can be used for creating fine art prints, cards and even printing on fabric. Come have fun with printmaking.

Instructor: Suzanne Lewis is an award-winning printmaker with a Master in Arts in Teaching from RIC and a Certificate in Drawing and Painting Studies from RISD Continuing Education Program. She has been studying and teaching printmaking for many years.

Tuition: $100/90 members (materials fee of $15 payable to instructor)

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
