PORTSMOUTH — The town has scheduled several special recycling and collection events in the near future:

A shredding event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 9 at Clements’ Marketplace. This event is for Portsmouth residents only, and there is a three-box limit.

Electronic waste collections, from 9 a.m. to noon, have been scheduled for the following Saturdays at Portsmouth High School: April 11, June 13, Sept. 12 and Nov. 14. These are open to any Rhode Island residents.

A hard plastic collection event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon (or until the container is full) on Saturday, June 6, at the transfer station on Hedly Street. A transfer station sticker is required to participate.

Scrap metal will be collected from 8 a.m. to noon (or until the container is full) on Saturday, July 18, in the lower area of the transfer station. The event is open to any Portsmouth resident.

If you have any questions on accepted materials, contact Recycling Coordinator Raymond Antaya at 401/643-0359 or rantaya@portsmouthri.com.

Additional collection information on each event is available at Town Hall.
