Portsmouth Police arrest man in alleged stabbing
PORTSMOUTH — Police arrested a 26-year-old man on Monday, five days after he allegedly stabbed another man in the stomach.
Kenneth Young was charged with domestic felony assault in connection with the incident, which police said took place on Wednesday, July 7. On that day, police responded to 57 Ethel Drive around 9:15 p.m. to investigate a reported stabbing.
When officers arrived, they found a 46-year-old man to be bleeding from an apparent stab wound to his abdomen, police said.
The victim was treated at the scene by the Portsmouth Fire Department and then transported to Rhode Island Hospital. The victim did not identify the suspect, who was not at the scene, according to police.
Over the next two days, the Detective Division was able to determine the identity of the suspect, and Mr. Young was arrested on Monday, July 12. He was later arraigned at 2nd District Court in Newport.
