Barrington Police do not charge men in suspect vehicle

Posted

A motorist called 911 at about 8:10 p.m. and reported that someone in another vehicle shot a BB gun at his vehicle while he was driving on Maple Avenue near County Road.

The motorist offered a description of the vehicle to police. Barrington Police officers located the suspect vehicle and ordered it over to the side of the road near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Middle Highway.

Police said there were five people inside the vehicle — all males between the ages of 19 and 20, and all from communities outside of Barrington (East Providence, New Bedford, Warwick, and Fall River).

Police said the men had “Splatter guns” — toy guns that shoot liquid-filled pellets.

The men told police that the incident was part of a Tik Tok trend. Police seized the toy guns and did not charge the men. Police warned that an accident could have resulted from the prank.
