Police arrest East Providence man on multiple drug charges

EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence Police officers recently arrested a city man alleged to have been operating a drug ring here and in neighboring Providence.

Nicholas DaSilva, 23, was taken into custody after serving a search warrant at his home on Fifth Street Sunday, July 23. Upon the search, officers confiscated "cocaine and other drugs."

DaSilva faces the following charges: possession with intent to distribute, distribution or manufacturing in or near schools-first offense and keeping/maintaining a common nuisance-first offense. He was arraigned on Thursday, July 27. His next court date is scheduled for November.

Law enforcement officers discovered over a half kilogram of cocaine, pills alleged to be fentanyl, psilocybin mushrooms "magic mushrooms," marijuana and five liters of promethazine, which includes the cough suppressant codeine.

In addition, officers located drug paraphernalia, approximately $1,400 in cash and ammunition.

The investigation was conducted by the EPPD,  Providence Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
