PHOTOS: Fourth Committee goes 'Bristolwood' for annual ball

The Bristol Fourth of July Committee went Hollywood Saturday night at its annual Fourth of July Ball.

The committee hosted the ball, which serves as a major fundraiser for the committee, at the Roger Williams University fieldhouse Saturday. Local contributors joined committee members and Fourth of July dignatiaries, including General Chairwoman Donna Falcoa, Miss Fourth of July Olivia Borgia and Little Miss Fourth of July Angela Pirri.

Other upcoming events include the Fourth of July Concert Series each night at Independence Park (check with eastbayri.com every day for a look at that night's performers), the Music Preivew (drum and bugle corps competition) July 3 in Cranston, and the fireworks over Bristol Harbor after dark on July 3.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
