His car was not so lucky. But a Taunton man escaped injury when, allegedly drunk, he drove his Ford off the road in Touissett recently and found himself three feet deep in Mt. Hope Bay. Warren police charged Phillip David Barros, 45, of Taunton, with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after he drove his car into the water at the bottom of Stonegate Drive. Police found out about it at 6:56 p.m. last Tuesday, Dec. 17, after Mr. Barros went to a nearby resident’s house to ask for help. The Ford was a loss.
