The director of the town's recreation department said more than 1,400 seasonal beach passes have been sold so far this summer.

Michele Geremia said that 1,602 seasonal beach passes were sold last year, while 1,408 passes have been sold so far this summer. She said residents continue to purchase the seasonal passes, as the weather has made the town beach an attractive destination.

Ms. Geremia said she has also noticed that the sale of non-resident day passes has nearly doubled from last year. In 2017, the town sold 355 non-resident day passes; a non-resident day pass costs $10. This summer, the town has already sold 700 non-resident day passes at $10 each.

"It's been busy," Ms. Geremia said during a recent interview. "It's been hot."

The sale of resident day passes have also increased, from 196 last year to 225 this year.

Ms. Geremia said that the parking lot — there are 78 spaces available — has been sufficient for most days, although attendants at the beach have opened up the overflow parking area nine times. 

"That's a lot," she added.
