For those looking to charge their electric vehicles in their travels through Barrington, a quick stop at the Barrington Shopping Center on County Road will have them fully charged and ready to roll.
And here’s the best part — at no charge.
Over the summer, Joseph Paolino, president of Paolino Properties, recognized the growing need for electric charging stations and took advantage of a state funded initiative to install the charging stations.
Now, a ChargePoint electric vehicle charging station is located on the northern side of the parking lot, adjacent to the East Bay bicycle path by property. Another is located in Newport at the Brown and Howard Wharf Condominium complex, another property owned by Paolino.
“I pay for the electricity. This is our way of giving back to the community,” Mr. Paolino said of the EVCS.
Since it’s been installed, electric vehicles such as cars and motorized wheelchairs have rolled up to the station to charge up their depleted batteries.
