Multiple mistakes published in Warren's preliminary budget announcement

Posted

The preliminary budget that was published in Wednesday’s Warren Times-Gazette included multiple errors when it was submitted by the Town of Warren.

On Thursday morning, Town Manager Brian Sullivan and Town Clerk Sandrea Speroni called to ensure residents had the correct information and were not confused by the posting in the paper.

Perhaps most important to the public to read up front, no, the residential roperty tax rate is not proposed to go from 13.66 to 18.24. That was a mistake.

Here are the errors and corresponding corrections as dictated by Town officials. You can follow along with your copy of the Times, or use our e-reader edition.

  • On Page 9 in the paper, under “OPERATION”, the Public Works line should read 2,482,132 under the Town Council 24-25 column, instead of 3,213,301

  • On Page 9, under “OPERATION”, the Town Offices line should read 1,466,111 under the Town Council 24-25 column instead of 2,482,132

  • On Page 9, under “SUBTOTAL”, the Town Council 24-25 line should read 18,274,352 instead of 20,021,542

  • On Page 9, under “TOTAL TOWN EXPENDITURES”, the Town Council 24-25 line should read 18,355,352 instead of 20,021,542

  • On Page 9, the “Non-tax Revenue” line was left blank under Town Council 24-25 and it should have read 5,389,099

  • On Page 9, the “NET COST OF TOWN GOVERNMENT” line, under the Town Council 24-25 column should read 12,885,253, instead of 20,021,542

  • On Page 9, the "Tax Rate Real Estate" line should read 14.42 under Town Council 24-25 instead of 18.24

  • On Page 9, the "Tax Levy Tangibls & RE" line should read 27,578,900 instead of being left blank in the Town Council 24-25 column.

  • On Page 10, under the “TOTAL EXPENDITURES” line, the Town Manager Request 24-25 column should read 18,255,933, and the Town Council 24-25 column should read 18,274,352
