Barrington Enrichment Summer Theatre celebrates 18th year

Posted

Barrington Recreation Department and Barrington Community Theatre recently announced the 18th year of Barrington Enrichment Summer Theatre (BEST) Camp.

There will be two sessions, each running for 3 weeks: July 6 to 23 and July 26 to Aug. 13. Each section is limited to 20 campers. Each session will feature performances (filmed performance during camp and presented virtually) as well as a variety of workshops and games.

BEST/BCT is an accepting environment and welcomes youth ages 8 to 18, of all experience levels. For safety, COVID-19 protocols will be followed. Temperatures will be taken each morning; basic screening questions will be asked; social distancing will be maintained; and masks will continue to be worn to comply with guidelines. Campers will be splitting their time between the auditorium and the outdoors.

Camp is Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is $595 per camper per session (this price includes all processing fees). People can register for either session (as well as any other Recreation camp) at https://barringtonlearningctr.org/CAMPS.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
