MaryRose “Ma” Aguiar, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, under the care of hospice and her loving family in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She was born in Warren, R.I., on Feb. 4, 1925, to her late parents, Wilfred and Annie (Boudreau) Marchand.

“Ma” was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Aguiar; her parents; and 12 siblings.

MaryRose worked for CARR Manufacturing, Inc. in Bristol, R.I. until her retirement. She began wintering in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., in 1988 and became a full-time resident of Edgewater, Fla., in 1997, living with her daughter (and best friend) Rosemary Cote. “Ma” will also be fondly remembered for working at PUB44 (New Smyrna Beach) as hostess and gift shop/T-shirt salesperson.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Cote (Edmond); her son, Gilbert (Gilly) V. Aguiar (Julie); six granddaughters (Sherry, Paula, June, Elizabeth, Rachel and Samantha) and five great-grandchildren (Amber, JT, Autumn, Luke and Cotey).

MaryRose loved playing BINGO with her many friends, slot machines, dancing, listening to Big Band music and Liberace, watching game shows and never would have passed up a good card game. Funeral Mass will be held, Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at 10 a.m. in St. Jean the Baptiste Church, 645 Main St., Warren, R.I. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, R.I.
