Police and rescue crews responded to the area of Mt. Hope bridge on Tuesday where members of Bristol’s Marine One pulled a man from the water. It is believed that the man had jumped from the Portsmouth side of the bridge at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Once pulled from the water, crews attempted to resuscitate the man, continuing their efforts inside the waiting ambulance at the Church Street dock.
Bristol Fire Chief Robert Martin confirmed that the person pulled from the water was a male, however did not give any indication of his age or condition.
Police near the bridge had a vehicle believed to be owned by the man, however no other details have been released at this time.
