Lively group performs at Tiverton Four Corners on Sunday

Posted

The Four Corners Art Center will be hosting a lively group of musicians as they bring an eclectic mix of bluegrass, folk, western and fiddle tunes on Sunday, Oct. 16. The Spindle Rock River Rats play music for pure enjoyment-and their performances show it. The band started in 1999 when a group of Westport, Massachusetts musicians played for Polly Gardner's daughter's wedding. They had such a good time, they decided to keep playing. Over the years, the band has performed at private parties, celebrations, farmer’s markets, yacht club events and for many nonprofit organizations. The group has performed at the Seaman’s Bethel in New Bedford, The Spindle Rock Club on the Westport River, and has recorded a CD of their favorite songs. Their repertoire is a great blend of vocals and instrumentals and includes bluegrass, gospel, fiddle tunes, sea shanties, folk and blues.

Musicians include “Den Mother” Polly Gardner (Upright Bass), Woody Underwood (Fiddle & Guitar), Borden Snow (Banjo & Guitar), Brad Jenkins (Banjo), Maury May (Guitar); Dock Murdock (Dobro), Steve Fors (Mandolin), Juergen Hallemeier (Accordion). Whether it’s four or five Rats, or the whole gang, their music livens up any gathering.

The show begins at 2 p.m. at The Meeting House. Tickets are $20 in advance or at the door.
