Little Compton will hold its Financial Town Meeting (FTM) virtually this year, the town council decided unanimously during their June 4 meeting.
The FTM will begin at 7 pm on Tuesday, June 30, by way of Zoom. Voters will need a computer, tablet, smartphone or telephone to access. Voters have been asked to pre-register for the event no later than 4 pm on Friday, June 26, and will subsequently be sent the necessary information allowing them to participate on Tuesday night.
Non-voters will be able to watch the meeting live on the Town of Little Compton’s YouTube page.
In order to pass the budget, council President Robert Mushen reminded residents that they will need a quorum of 157 participants – critical, considering that the start of the next fiscal year begins the day after the meeting.
“This is the one chance we have to do this,” he said.
To pre-register, voters can either call or email the Town Clerk’s office at 401-635-4400 or cwordell@littlecomptonri.org; they will need their name, address, driver’s license number, voter ID and email and/or phone number in order to do so. Voter IDs can be found on the Budget Committee Report that was mailed out. On the day of the FTM, voters are encouraged to join the meeting early in order to ensure that there is a quorum.
