Little Compton schools to hold special mask meeting Friday

Discussion comes as district leans toward delaying masks optional policy

Posted

The Little Compton School Committee and its policy subcommittee will meet Friday afternoon to discuss how to revise the school district's mask, visitor and vaccination policies, among others.

The discussion comes after the policy subcommittee met last Friday and heard from a slew of Little Compton residents who want the district to make mask wearing in school optional. Superintendent Dr. Laurie Dias-Mitchell said at the meeting that her inclination is to delay the easing of mask wearing at Wilbur-McMahon for now, and revisit it later in March after more data comes in.

Should the committee choose a course of action either way Friday, it will not become official until after a second reading and a vote some time next month.

The policy subcommittee meets at 4 p.m., with the full committee meeting starting at 4:30 p.m. Click here Friday afternoon to join the remote meeting, or call in at (646)876-9923.
