Letter: Article eloquently captured Owen Cameron’s spirit

To the editor:

I was moved by Jim McGaw’s excellently written article (“He was a light,” Portsmouth Times, April 4) about Owen Cameron, whom I never met.

I am grateful that Jim so graciously depicted Owen frankly and shed light on the beauty of Owen’s uniqueness and the short-sightedness of societal ideals. Brendan, a Portsmouth High School student, said it eloquently: “We don’t have enough time to judge someone and put preconceived thoughts and opinions on them.” Brendan has learned a powerful message at a young age.

While those who knew and loved Owen are reeling from the loss, I am sure that Jim McGaw’s words about Owen will uplift many by having so eloquently captured his spirit.
