Joseph J. Rock, 91, formerly of Fenwick Road, Riverside, died on Saturday, April 6, 2013. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline (Thompson) Rock. He was the husband of the late Genevieve (Rafferty) Rock.
Mr. Rock is survived by five sons and their spouses; James H. (Sharyn), Joseph Michael (Margaret), Robert E. (Madonna), all of East Providence, Stephen F. (Deborah) of Barrington and John P. (Patricia) of Cranston and nine grandchildren; Robert, Genevieve, Brenna, Patrick, Calley, Abigail, Sean, Kellie and Margaret.
Mr. Rock was born on June 1, 1921. He was the son of the late James A. and Mary E. (Giblin) Rock and brother of the late Mary Carter.
Mr. Rock was a graduate of Providence College Class of 1947. He was a long-time educator and athletic director in the Scituate and East Providence School Systems. He was a charter member and past Chairman of the East Providence Housing Authority. He was a United States Coast Guard Veteran serving during World War II.
Mr. Rock's funeral will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
