An employee at Rhode Island Country Club called the Barrington police on Thursday, July 28 and said that it appeared a homeless man was living in various spots around the golf course.

Police responded to the club and located the 61-year-old man near the beach — just south of the final four holes of the golf course.

The club employee said the man had been seen sleeping on the greens and walking around the course at different times.

Police spoke with the man, who was shirtless, badly sunburned and appeared disoriented. The man had a Utah ID and said he had been living at the Crossroads homeless shelter in Providence and had made his way to the golf course recently.

Police transported the man to a hospital for evaluation.
