First concert of the season in Westport

Concerts at the Point will present the first concert in its 26th annual concert series with the Jasper String Quartet on. Celebrating its 16th anniversary in 2022, the quartet is recognized as one of the leading American string quartets on the performance stage today. Members are J, Freivogel and Karen Kim, violins; Andrew Gonzalez, viola; and Rachel Henderson Freivogel, cello.

WHAT: Concerts at the Point

WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m.

WHERE: Westport Point United Methodist Church, 1912 Main Road. The building is handicapped accessible, with room for social distancing. Street parking is abundant.

COST: $30 for adults; $10 for students

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
