The Westport Recreation Department and Westport Land Conservation Trust are are collaborating to offer a “Halloween Happening” event on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 12-2 p.m. It will take place outside at Westport Woods. (Rain date is Sunday, October 30, 12-2pm).

Children and families can come dressed in a costume and enjoy walking a trick-or-treat trail where people in family friendly costumes will hand out candy and treats. There will be outdoor games such as: witch hat ring toss, Halloween egg and spoon races, pumpkin bean bag toss and more! We will also have pumpkin painting, food vendors, Halloween music and the Westport police and fire departments will be there with decorated vehicles, treats and interacting with kids.

Pre-registration is required for this event at www.westportrec.com; the event fills up fast so register soon! Cost is $5 per child and parents/adults are free.

“We are so happy to be able to offer this great outdoor event!” said Dana Stewart, recreation director for the Town of Westport. “We hope children and families enjoy having some Halloween fun in a safe, family friendly environment out in nature! The Westport Land Conservation Trust has been celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and will have some special contributions to this event.”
