Edward J. Francis, 89, Portsmouth

Edward J. Francis of Portsmouth passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 17, 2017, his 89th birthday. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte (Smith) Francis.

His love for his family will be carried on by his children, Eddie Francis and his wife Fran of Ocala, Fla., Jimmy Francis and his wife Amber of Farmerville, La., Cindi Blouin and her husband Tom, and Susan Travers and her husband Ron, all of Portsmouth. He leaves five grandchildren, Billy Francis of Bristol, RI, Joey Francis of Portsmouth, Jennifer Miller of South Carolina, Jessica Putnam of Lincoln, RI, and Christopher Francis of Portsmouth, eight great-grandchildren, William, Alex, Joey, Cody and Makenzie Francis and Jamie, Ashley and Justin Miller, and one great, great, granddaughter.

He was born in Dighton, Mass to the late Joseph and Florence (Wilson) Francis.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Joe Francis and his two sisters, Evelyn Mancini and Dorothy Lopes.

He was the owner and operator of Francis Trucking for 30 years before retiring and spending his winters in Holiday, Florida.

Mr. Ed enjoyed his life to the fullest and will be missed by his family and friends. Services will be private.
