NORTH SCITUATE — The Rhode Island State Police last week apprehended an East Providence resident on gun and drug charges.

RISP announced Wednesday, Sept. 6, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force arrested Sean Jobin, 32, of 448 Bullocks Point Ave., after investigating an alleged "high-level 3D printing operation" during which Mr. Jobin was "illegally manufacturing and possessing privately made undetectable firearms," commonly known as "ghost” guns.

The seizure and arrest were the result of an investigation initiated by the Rhode Island State Police HIDTA Task Force regarding an individual allegedly involved in the production of “ghost” guns.

At the conclusion of this investigation, members of the HIDTA Task Force executed a court authorized search warrant and the following items were seized: sophisticated 3D printing operation utilized to produce undetectable firearms, four fully assembled 9mm semi-automatic ghost guns, 16 ghost lower firearm receivers, three ghost upper firearm receivers, one Highpoint 9mm semi-automatic pistol, more than one kilogram of marijuana, narcotics distribution materials and $6,700 in cash.

Jobin was processed at the Lincoln Barracks then special arraigned by a Justice of the Peace. He was remanded to the Adult Correctional Facility pending his formal arraignment at 6th Division District Court.

Jobin faces the following charges: possession of a ghost gun (23 counts) possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation (24 counts), possession of a firearm by certain persons prohibited (24 counts), and large capacity feeding devices prohibited (14 counts), possession of marijuana in excess of one kilogram and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (marijuana).


The Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force is comprised of members from the Rhode Island State Police, Providence Police Department, North Providence Police Department, Lincoln Police Department, Middletown Police Department, Bristol Police Department, Narragansett Police Department, Johnston Police Department, DEA Providence District Office, and Department and Rhode Island National Guard Counterdrug Program.
