Power restored to all Barrington schools

Posted

Parents of Barrington students received some good news early Thursday morning: Power had been restored to all the public schools in town and students would be returning to class.

District officials called for a distance learning day on Wednesday, as a strong storm knocked out power to Hampden Meadows School and Nayatt School and thousands of residents.

Late Wednesday night, the district sent an email to parents stating the plan for the following day should power not be restored in time for Thursday's classes. But at 6:30 a.m., Superintendent Michael Messore sent out texts and emails notifying people that electricity had been restored at the schools.

Meanwhile, residents across Barrington continued to clean up following the storm. At the height of the storm, nearly half of the town was without power, but as of Thursday morning, electricity had been restored to most homes in town.
