Bristol firm buys FedEx property for $4.375 million

A limited liability company associated with a Bristol plastics firm has purchased the old Federal Express property at 15 New Industrial Road in Warren, for $4.375 million.

Mussuchuck Properties LLC, associated with Jade Engineered Plastics at 121 Broadcommon Road in Bristol, purchased the property last week from Evelyn Avenue Associates LLLP in Maryland.

Jade’s president, Steve Holland, said the 42-year-old firm has outgrown its Bristol location, and while the move to Warren is in the company’s best interest, it is bittersweet.

“We were there a long time,” he said. “Lots of memories there.”

It will take at least six months to properly organize the business’s move to the new location, and Jade has hired engineers and consultants to help plan the move and make sure downtime is kept to a minimum. But when Jade does move in, the firm will have much more room.

Jade’s current home in Bristol covers 12,000 square feet of manufacturing space on just under an acre of land. The FedEx property in Warren covers close to 65,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space and sits on 11.67 acres of land.

Jade manufactures high-tech and high tolerance plastic and other polymer-based parts used in many different industries, from aerospace to automotive and more. Currently, the firm employs 91 people, though Mr. Holland expects the firm will hire additional staff based on the business climate.
