The Barrington High School Cross Country team recently announced the launch of its first-ever "Barrington Woods Trail Race,” a 5K fund-raising event that will support the Barrington High School girls and boys cross country teams.

Set to take place on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m., the race will lead participants through the woods behind Barrington High School tennis courts, offering a memorable and scenic running experience.

“The Barrington Woods Trail Race is more than just a race; it represents the cross country team's commitment to fostering a love for running and athletics within the community,” stated a press release. “Open to runners of all ages and fitness levels, this event aims to bring together individuals, families, and running enthusiasts to celebrate health, wellness, and camaraderie while supporting a great cause.”

Participants can look forward to a well-organized event with a water station, clearly marked trails, and supportive volunteers throughout the course.

Registration for the Barrington Woods Trail Race is now open and can be completed online at www.barringtonwoodstrailrace.racewire.com. The first 150 runners who sign up will receive a race t-shirt.

"Cross country has been an integral part of our lives, and we are thrilled to host the Barrington Woods Trail Race to raise funds for our team," said one of the boys team captains. "We invite everyone to join us in this exciting event and make a positive impact on the development of athletics in our community."
