The Eagles won their first game of the season on Thursday, April 18, defeating Lincoln High School 9-8.
Barrington trailed 3-0 heading into the sixth inning, but scored seven runs to take a 7-3 lead. The Lions battled back and scored five runs in the top of the seventh to regain the lead, 8-7, but Barrington plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh to grab the 9-8 win.
Jenna Macaluso pitched a complete game for the Eagles. She also had three hits, including a double in the bottom of the seventh inning that drove in the winning run. Maddie Cox also had three hits for Barrington, which improved to 1-5.
On Thursday, April 16, Barrington lost 10-0 to North Providence. The Cougars' Hannah Doorley pitched a one-hitter against the Eagles.
Boys volleyball
The Barrington High School boys volleyball team slipped to 1-4 after losing to Classical 3-0 on Tuesday, April 16. Classical won 25-7, 26-24, 25-17. Barrington's Aidan Keenan finished the game with seven kills and eight digs. The Eagles are scheduled to play at East Greenwich on Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m.
Baseball
The Eagles split in two games against Tiverton last week. On Tuesday, April 16, Barrington defeated Tiverton 8-1, but two days later the Eagles lost 11-5 against the Tigers.
In the Eagles' victory, Henry Johnson pitched well, allowing one run on four hits. Johnson helped his own cause, going 3-for-4 at the plate and also drove in a run. Sam Tanous scored twice for Barrington.
On Thursday, April 18, Barrington struggled to score runs until the bottom of the seventh inning when Sam Turner smashed a three-run homer.
Barrington, which moved its record to 1-4, was slated to host West Warwick on Thursday, April 25 at 3:45 p.m.
Boys lacrosse
Barrington High School dropped to 1-2 after losing 19-5 against LaSalle on Wednesday, April 17. Ren LaMotte and Ben Lisle led the Eagles' offense — LaMotte scored two goals and had one assist, while Lisle finished with one goal and two assists. Callum Flaherty made 16 saves in the loss to first-place LaSalle.
Boys tennis
The Eagles improved to 6-0 after two wins last week. Barrington defeated Classical 6-1 on Tuesday, April 16, and beat Cranston West 7-0, on Thursday, April 18.
Eric Zhang, Owen Voigt and Scott Sapolsky each won their singles matches in straight sets. The doubles teams of Brian Donahue and Connor Kelly, Kevin Zhu and Alex Caizzi, and Andrew Barton and Matt Brenner all won their matches in straight sets.
It was clean sweep for the Eagles in their 7-0 win over Cranston West, as all the singles players and doubles teams for Barrington won in straight sets.
South Kingstown will travel to Barrington on Thursday, April 25.
