A group of local people laced up their running shoes to help people affected by the Boston Marathon Bombing on April 15.

Barrington resident and FuelBelt company owner Vinu Malik helped organize the “Barrington to Boston Run” on May 15 — joggers ran a 4.15-mile course that started and finished on Chachapacassett Road. Organizers also collected donations for One Fund Boston.

“We had a tremendous turnout despite the high wind and intermittent rain. I haven’t seen that many people run down Chachapacassett like that before,” Mr. Malik wrote in an e-mail following the event.

“When you’re able to bring that many people together on a school night and raise over $5,000 for the One Fund, I call that a great night. Some of you were exceedingly generous, so thank you again!”

Organizers also designed and sold special t-shirts to raise money for One Fund Boston. The shirts featured the “Boston Strong” logo on the front with Barrington and the number 1 on the back.
