The playoff march for the Barrington High School soccer teams continues.

On Tuesday night, Nov. 2, the BHS girls team defeated Mt. Hope 3-1 in a Division I play-in game, while the Eagles’ boys team knocked off Hendricken 2-1 in the D-I preliminary round game. Both games were played at Victory Field.

The girls opened the night with a solid victory over the Huskies. Barrington built a 2-0 lead in the first half and stretched it to 3-0 about 10 minutes into the second half.

The Eagles’ Sarah Yee scored twice and Sophia Richardson netted one goal and assisted on another. Bailey Duncan tallied two assists in the victory, while goalkeeper Alaina Wood made four saves in net.

Barrington will play in the quarterfinals on Saturday, traveling to Warwick to play top-seeded Pilgrim at noon.

Boys win

Andrew Blazewicz scored twice and led the Eagles to a 2-1 victory over Bishop Hendricken in the second game of Tuesday night’s double-header.

Blazewicz scored the game-winner with about 15 minutes to play in the game. He gathered a chip-in pass from Leo Caldarella, dribbled to his left and blasted a shot just inside the far side post to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage.

The defense did the rest, and goalkeeper JT Celico made a number of saves to secure the victory.

Barrington, the fifth seed in the Division I playoffs, advances to a quarterfinal game against the winner of the Moses Brown vs. Classical game.
