The annual Memorial Day parade in Barrington steps off on Monday morning, May 25.

Massing of Colors ceremonies, including raising of the flag, roll call of deceased veterans, placing of the wreath and playing of Taps will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Victory Field Memorial Gates at Barrington High School. Barrington native Rev. Angelo Carusi of St. Rocco's, will offer the Benediction. (The event will be moved inside the school in the event of inclement weather.)

The parade will form up at 9 a.m. and will be arranged in four divisions: recognition (officials), military honor, and the last two divisions made up of civic pride groups.

The parade historically draws thousands of spectators along the route that begins at Barrington High School, to Upland Way, Barrington Avenue, and down Maple Avenue and finally ends in front of town hall.

This year's honorary grand marshal is Lt. Kevin Quinn, the youngest of five children to Captain James Quinn USN (Ret.) and the late Mrs. Anne Hollister Quinn.

Lt. Quinn is a product of Barrington Public Schools and a 2012 graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He received his US Navy commission through the Strategic Sealift Commissioning Program and volunteered for Active Duty with his first assignment to the Amphibious Assault Ship, USS Peleliu (LHA 5). Kevin served as a Deck Division Officer and earned his Surface Warfare Qualification during the ship’s eight-month deployment to the Red Sea and Persian Gulf during Operation Enduring Freedom in support of anti-piracy operations. He deployed a second time for six more months, to the Western Pacific in support of National Interests in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

Anthony V. Arico, Jr. will be this year's keynote speaker. Mr. Arico is a native of Barrington and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served in the European Theater of Operations, including a tour in Tripoli, Libya prior to rule of Muammar Gaddafi. He also served a tour with the Strategic Air Command.

Mr. Arico was one of the original members of the Bristol County Water Authority, a past member of the Barrington Zoning Board of Review, and a twice a member of the Barrington Charter Review Commission. He is a Chairman Emeritus of the Barrington Democratic Town Committee and is married to Joan Arico. They have three children and three grandchildren together.
