Used books are priced to move

By Peyton Whittet

The Hampden Meadows Student Council sponsored a used book sale from January 25th to February 2nd. The money collected will be donated to charity. Students were asked to donate used books from home. We received lots of donations from generous students and their families. The books were sold for 50 cents each. Five to six student council representatives volunteered during lunch to sell the books. Classrooms are making suggestions on where to donate the money and it will soon be announced. The Student Council worked hard on collecting used books to sell at the sale and hopes that everyone enjoys their used books.

'Divergent' — A book review

By Gabriella Brien

Some of you may have heard of the book Divergent by Veronica Roth, some not. But this book is so amazing! It is about a young girl-Tris Prior- who lives in a futuristic world where society is split into five factions. As each person enters adulthood, they must choose a faction and commit to it for all their lives. Tris chooses Dauntless, those who purse bravery above all else. However, her initiation leads to the discovery that she is Divergent, and she will never be able to fit into just one faction. Warned that she must conceal her status, Tris uncovers a looming war which threatens everyone she loves. This book is considered young adults and appeals to 13 year olds and up, but if you are into the futuristic science fiction kind of thing, this book would be great for you. If you decide to read this and you get hooked on it, there are 3 other books in the series. Insurgent, Allegiant, and Four. (Yes the 4th book is indeed called Four.) If you read these books, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
