Eagles drop must-win against Moses Brown, 4-2

The Barrington Eagles boy’s hockey team lost two close games on Wednesday and Saturday this week, ending their season and eliminating them from postseason play.

The Eagles came out a bit slow against Burrillville on Wednesday, allowing two early goals and ending the first period down 2-0. But the team slowly battled back with a power play goal by Sam Faulkner assisted by Brenan Gazeryan and Chase Watts to bring the score to 2-1. The third period was a back and forth game as Burrillville quickly went up 4-1 but Barrington responded with two goals of their own, first by Gazeryan from Watts and Faulkner and then again by Trevor Snow from Faulkner and Gazeryan. Although the Eagles outshot the Broncos 28-18 in the second two periods, the Broncos ended up ahead, 4-3.

Saturday night was another close game for the Eagles, this time a rematch against Moses Brown. One week earlier, the Eagles had defeated the Quakers for their Senior night by a score of 3-2; this time the Quakers earned the victory for their own senior night celebration, by a score of 4-2, with the final Quaker goal scored on an empty net as the Eagles made a final unsuccessful effort to tie the score at the end of the third period. Both Eagles goals were scored by Gazeryan and both were assisted by Faulkner and Watts. Cam Siwik notched an impressive 29 saves.
