Barrington High School not alone with recent threat

Three other schools in the region targeted in last 8 days; possible link to Tik Tok challenge with Providence incident

A threatening message was found written on a bathroom wall at Barrington High School on Monday, Dec. 13, and a day later about 20 percent of the student population decided not to go to class.

In fact, thousands of people have signed an online petition calling for the district to make classes at the high school virtual until a suspect is apprehended and the threat resolved.

Barrington High School is not the only school to deal with threats of violence recently.

On Dec. 7, officials at Somerset Berkley Regional High School in Massachusetts began an investigation after someone posted a threat on social media.

On Dec. 14, police investigated a threat made against the Warwick Veterans Memorial Middle School community.

And today, Wednesday, Dec. 15, Fall River Police began investigating a threat at Durfee High School in that city. The threat was made on social media and referenced a school shooting.

A little more than a month ago, GoLocalProv reported that Providence Police were investigating the threat of a school shooting in that city.

Police in Providence said it appeared the threat was related to a Tik Tok challenge, reported GoLocalProv.
