• March 20: The Arctic and Us — Two oceanographers from the largest arctic scientific study will be interviewed live. They will show their work and discuss their adventures. As part of the Multidisciplinary Drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate, the $150 million expedition has participants from 19 countries. At the center of the expedition is the research icebreaker Polarstern. Guests will be marine research scientist Robert Campbell and postdoctoral fellow Carin Ashjian. They studied the smallest forms of life and what climate change is doing to them even in the Arctic. The school will offer this online on its social media channels, both live and recorded.
• April 3 Detective Investigators — Design and set up kits for visitors to investigate the small things of nature. On their own, visitors can pick up a farm kit at the farm stand, complete with magnifying glass, tiny guide and a scavenger hunt. They travel as sleuths throughout the farm, finding tree bark, lichens, seeds, seedlings, pods, soil conditions, compost life, worms and so much more. Students can visit the farm, make discoveries, and get fresh air at the three-acre farm.
