Barrington candidate earns committee's endorsement

Jason Knight challenging Jan Malik in Democratic primary for District 67 seat

Posted

Barrington resident Jason Knight recently received the endorsement of the Barrington Democratic Town Committee in the race for the District 67 seat in the Rhode Island House of Representatives.

Mr. Knight, a lawyer in private practice, is challenging incumbent Jan Malik in the Democratic primary on Sept. 13. Rep. Malik has served in the House for about 20 years.

On Tuesday, June 28, Mr. Knight issued a press release following the committee's decision to endorse him.

“I’m so pleased and thankful to the committee for their endorsement,” said Mr. Knight in the release. “I’m campaigning to bring a new voice to the statehouse for Warren and Barrington and clearly the committee agreed that it is time for a change.”

Mr. Knight said the differences between himself and Rep. Malik are many.

“The voters of Warren and Barrington have a choice this year between a conservative incumbent who is anti choice and has enjoyed the support of the NRA or a new voice with real Democratic values who supports ethics reform and knows that we need new and creative ideas to get our economy back on its feet. The committee's vote shows that Barrington is ready to turn the page," Mr. Knight said.
