New infield sod installed at Sowams School field

Posted

Crews recently completed a re-sodding project at the Sowams School fenced baseball field.

The town hired a contractor — Leitao Landscaping — to complete the work. The infield for the Little League-sized baseball diamond was completely dug up, and replaced with new sod. Crews from the Barrington Department of Public Works also helped adjust the in-ground irrigation at the baseball field.

Sowams School plays host to two baseball diamonds. The fenced field rests closer to the school playground, while the unfenced field is located toward the woods on the western edge of the school property.

Barrington Little League utilizes the Sowams School fenced field, Chianese Field and Sherwood Field for its minors and majors baseball division games. The league occasionally has games at the Veterans Park baseball field, which has lights for night games.
