Barrington hosted Wheeler on Thursday, May 17, for Senior Day, and started 9 seniors en route to a 5-3 win over the visitors. Barrington's record improved to 9-4-1 on the season.
Andrew Conaty got the start for the Eagles and pitched 5 full innings, giving up 3 hits, no runs and tallying four strikeouts to earn the win. Cabot Maher pitched the final 2 innings, giving up 3 hits, 3 runs and had 3 strikeouts.
Excellent defense in left field by Matt Zeleznik helped keep the visitors quiet early on; one of the 5 putouts was a terrific diving catch by Zeleznik. Nick Peecher also played a solid first base, and at the plate, had 2 loud outs that earned him an rbi in 3 quality at-bats.
Andy Marra had a big day at the plate and just missed hitting for the cycle with a single, double and solo homerun with 3 rbi's to pace the Eagles offense. George Connelly had 2 singles, Maher had a single and Zeleznik had a single, as the Eagles outhit Wheeler on the day.
Eagles lose to Mt. Hope
The Barrington High School baseball team traveled to Guiteras Field in Bristol on Wednesday to take on Mt. Hope, but ended up on the short end of an 8-2 score.
Matt Zeleznik got the start for Barrington High School and shared pitching duties with George Promades, each pitching 3 innings and allowing 6 hits and 5 earned runs; Promades had 3 strikeouts. The offense was led by Cabot Maher with a solo homerun and rbi, Josh Leadem with 2 singles, Andrew Conaty with a single and rbi, Michael Pfeffer with a double, Matt Zeleznik with a single and Andy Marra with a single.
