Auto show is in Providence all weekend

The Northeast International Auto Show takes place at the Rhode Island Convention Center this weekend. From fuel-efficient compact cars and alternative fuel vehicles to the latest crossovers, SUVs and tough trucks, the auto show will showcase a vast selection of new models from major domestic and import manufacturers. Representatives from leading manufacturers will be on-site to answer questions and provide information on the latest vehicles. Attendees can get behind the wheels to try each vehicle on for size, learn about the latest automotive technology and explore futuristic concept cars.

Hours are: Friday from 12 to 9 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets are:  Adults (13 & over) $14, Senior Citizens (62 & over) $10, Students (under 21 w/ Student ID) $10, Children (12 & under) free

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
