Tiverton Police: Felony assault charged

Chad M. Bergeron, 42, of 126 Hooper St., Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of violation of a no-contact order at 10:43 a.m..

Tuesday, July 12

A 17-year-old Tiverton woman was charged at 1:48 p.m. on a number of counts after in the wake of a July 5 assault at a Stafford Road location. Police say the assailant and a boyfriend (with whom there was a no-contact order) broke into the boyfriend’s mother’s residence. When the mother returned she told them to leave — police say the girl instead attacked the mother and attempted to strangle her — marks consistent with strangulation were found on her neck. When the victim tried to call police, the assailant allegedly took the cell phone and left with it. Charges include felony assault, violation of a no-contact order, simple assault, and refusal to relinquish a telephone.

Wednesday, July 13

After being stopped at 1:46 a.m. on Fish Road, Michelle Wolstenholme, 48, of 41 Charles Drive, Apt. 3, Tiverton, was charged with driving under the influence.

Sunday, July 17

Brent R. Poitras, 30, of 63 Edmond Lane, Tiverton, was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Zachary Duda, 26, of Warwick, was charged with driving with a suspended license, second offense, at 11:54 p.m.
