A family of Cooper's Hawks have recently taken up residence in the backyard of a Sowams Road home.
The hawks, which have been seen sitting atop tree branches and on playground equipment, can be found as far north as Canada and as far south as Mexico. Some Cooper's Hawks from Canada and Northern US migrate during the winter months.
Cooper's Hawks are sometimes referred to as chicken hawks. They prey almost entirely upon other birds, including robins and blue jays.
