Letter: Heidi Drive writers demonstrate selective memory

Recent letters to the editor regarding the Heidi Drive matter demonstrate the phenomena of selective memory.

Nowhere do I read anything about the contribution that these "alleged public service villains" made in the matter of RIDEM's attempt to force sewers down the throats of the people of the northeast section of Portsmouth. Starting with construction costs of $104 million and topping out at $200 million (add in engineering, environmental, interest, etc.), several of these alleged villains stood up to RIDEM and fought back. ($200 million spread over 20 years and 1,000 homes and you have a cost of $10K per year per home in one of our more moderate-income neighborhoods.)

Some of this crew of alleged public service unworthies also sought a second opinion in the matter of the RIDEM's notice of violation (NOV) regarding sewers. That effort resulted in a suspension of enforcement of the NOV, certainly a de facto victory if not a de jure victory.

As a former member of the Waste Water Advisory Committee and the Waste Water Commission and presently a member of the Waste Water Appeals Board, I choose not to further embarrass any authors of letters to the editor but simply ask them to publish the full record. “Let ye who is without sin cast the first stone.”
