EAST PROVIDENCE — Incumbent Tim Conley issued the following press release announcing his re-election bid to the East Providence City Council from Ward 4.

"Tim Conley, a lifelong resident of Riverside, has declared his intention to seek re-election for the Ward 4 City Council seat in East Providence. Mr. Conley served as the Vice-Chairman of the East Providence School Committee from 2012 – 2014 and is a current member of the City Council representing Ward 4. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Conley is currently employed as the Director of Prospect Research with the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

"An active community volunteer, Mr. Conley is the Vice President – Challenger Division and current coach in the Riverside Little League. He served as coach this past season for the Riverside Middle School Unified Basketball team. He is the founder and coach of the Riverside Little League Challenger Division and the East Providence Challenger Basketball Program – programs that provide structured athletic opportunities for special needs children. He is a 2011 Award Recipient from the East Providence Local Advisory Committee for Special Education – which acknowledged his commitment to special needs children in the city of East Providence. In addition, Mr. Conley currently serves as a member of the Board of Advisors with A Wish Come True.

"Mr. Conley indicated his desire to continue to serve, as a member of the City Council, is a desire to serve the city in encouraging creativity, promoting business and economic development, enhancing the quality of our neighborhoods, and improving the educational quality of our schools. I believe the role of the city council is to provide a strategic vision and be a champion of programs and policies that promote the long-term growth and prosperity of East Providence. I intend to meet with the residents of Riverside to get their feedback and thoughts on how East Providence should position itself to achieve its great potential and future success. The East Providence City Council needs to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation and not be mired in the micro-management of city departments that has historically proven to be ineffective and unproductive. It has been an honor to represent Riverside as a member of the East Providence City Council and he looks forward to the opportunity during this campaign to talk to the residents of Riverside about their hopes and vision for the City of East Providence. I remain committed to being an advocate for the needs and issues facing the residents of Riverside.

"Mr. Conley and his wife, Catherine, reside in the Terrace section of Riverside with their three children, Abigail age 16, and twins, Emily and Ethan age 14."
