EAST PROVIDENCE — An East Providence Police officer suffered minor injuries as a result of a chase that occurred Sunday, May 12, in city.
The incident took place on Veterans Memorial Parkway and actually included a crash with the officer's cruiser as well as another vehicle.
According to the report of EPPD Patrol Commander Captain Christopher Francesconi, Sierra A. Perez-Moore, 21 and of Falmouth, Mass., was charged with Reckless Driving and Driving with an Expired License for instigating the incident.
Ms. Perez-Moore had earlier left the scene of a disturbance elsewhere in the city. She was also involved in a separate crash on the parkway. Her participation in the disturbance and her reckless driving led to the EPPD being called, Capt. Francesconi explained. The investigation into the incident she was involved in prior to the crash is on going and additional charges are expected, he added.
All involved in the accidents were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Ms. Perez-Moore was taken into custody upon her release.
The EPPD officer involved was released from the hospital later Sunday night. Capt. Francesconi described the officer as being “very lucky” not to have been more seriously injured as a result of the matter.
