It's about time. Don't you think this need has been there for quite some time? Don't think for one minute that not having a superintendent hasn't compromised the educational process. It certainly has. When this process is done will the Budget Commission post the second interim position in the district? RIDE has verbalized(to me) that they were concerned about the length of that interim position. Maybe they can help find a suitable and permanent candidate who abides by work hours, responsibilities, and appropriate decorum. Afterall, this wasn't a recommendation that they would have sanctioned. I am looking forward to the next appointment. The sooner the better!

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
