PORTSMOUTH — The Patriots girls’ soccer team won its third-straight game on Thursday, Oct. 5, by blanking visiting West Warwick in a conference matchup, 5-0.

Soccer team improves record to 6-1 in Division II

PORTSMOUTH — The Patriots girls’ soccer team won its third-straight game on Thursday, Oct. 5, by blanking visiting West Warwick in a conference matchup, 5-0.

The team is now 6-1 in Division II and 6-2 overall. 

The squad’s other wins were against Lincoln (4-2), Ponaganset (7-0), East Providence (10-2), Prout (2-0), and North Smithfield (2-0).

The team’s two losses came against Scituate and Division I Mt. Hope, the latter being a non-conference game.

The Patriots will next host Middletown at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, before visiting Coventry at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12. The team returns home to face Burrillville at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
